Volunteering opportunities
At the CLSC de NDG–Montréal-Ouest, we currently have over 160 volunteers who give their time to be involved with one or more of our 10 regular volunteer activities. These include:
Exercise/Walking Activity: Volunteers encourage and assist clients with mobility problems to exercise in order to regain or maintain their physical autonomy.
Individual and Group Grocery Shopping: Volunteers accompany and help clients in the stores with their food shopping.
Meal Assistance: Volunteers work with clients who need help to prepare meals that they can reheat and have during the week.
Special Assistance: Volunteers are paired with intellectually challenged adults for friendship and social integration.
Breast Feeding Support: This activity is for new mothers who are breast-feeding. Volunteers support new mothers through telephone calls and at a drop-in centre.
Family Net: This activity is geared towards isolated young mothers. While the mothers are meeting, volunteers care for and animate fun activities with their children. The volunteers are also responsible for preparing a light lunch for the participants.
Office Work: Volunteers support the secretaries with clerical tasks.
Welcome Aide: Volunteers work alongside the receptionists to greet the public, provide information and help clients complete their Medicare card application forms.
Central Volunteer Coordination: Volunteers help with the day-to-day operations of the volunteer office. They also organize or assist with the planning of social activities, volunteer meetings, volunteer recruitment and fundraisers.
