THE FIVE RESEARCH THEMES IN SOCIAL GERONTOLOGY

Scientific research is conducted at the Centre for Research and Expertise in Social Gerontology (CREGES) of the CSSS Cavendish, centre affilié universitaire, under the direction of seventeen researchers who are members of CREGES. These university professors or researchers based in health and social services institutions - including three from CSSS Cavendish - are affiliated with the Université du Québec à Montréal, the Université de Montréal, McGill University, Université Laval, the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Institut de gériatrie de Montréal. The team also consists of 25 practitioner-researchers and a dozen students pursuing a master’s degree, doctoral degree or post-doctoral studies.

Together they initiate and lead approximately 60 projects that are grouped into five research streams:

THEME 1. Multiple forms of aging and their representations

THEME 2. Social environments and living situations of older persons

THEME 3. Intervention with and for seniors and their close relatives and friends

THEME 4. Public policies on aging and citizen action

THEME 5. Aging, social exclusion and solidarity.
