Cutting-edge practices
Development of practices in social gerontology
The CSSS Cavendish practitioners are encouraged to question their practice on an ongoing basis and to improve them by developing new responses to the changing and evolving needs of seniors. The Centre for Research and Expertise in Social Gerontology (CREGÉS) of CSSS Cavendish supports these initiatives by allocating funds to projects that emerge from practice. This is what we call our cutting-edge practices and services in social gerontology.
Cutting-edge services in social gerontology
A cutting-edge service in social gerontology is an innovative interdisciplinary service that, in collaboration with a research team or a researcher, develops and improves professional practices to respond to the specific needs of seniors. There are currently five areas of specialization:
- Support to caregivers
- Elder abuse
- Mental health and aging (to come)
- Health and aging: prevention and promotion
- Palliative care in the community (to come)
The four main components of cutting-edge services in social gerontology
- Specialized direct services
- Research activities linked to an area of expertise including program evaluation
- Knowledge sharing activities with other practitioners and teaching of students
- Partnerships with institutions, community groups and individuals
For more information on the research activities and knowledge sharing in which the cutting-edge services teams are involved, visit the website of the CREGÉS.
