Henri-Bradet day centre
The day centre works jointly with the CLSC’s home care services. Activities enable seniors to live at home while avoiding social isolation, help them to maintain their physical capacities and social skills, and provide respite to their caregivers. If you feel that you need one of these services for yourself or a loved one, contact your CSSS. A professional will evaluate your situation to best meet your needs.
Henri Bradet Day Centre is a community day program that provides preventative and therapeutic activities for seniors living at home who have lost some autonomy whether physical, cognitive or psychosocial. Our mission is to enhance and promote independence and a good quality of life for older adults and their families using an interdisciplinary, holistic and “wellness” approach.
The capacity of the Day Centre is 25 to 28 people per day. Transport to and from the Centre as well as a lunch, served in our dining room, are provided for a fee of $8.50 daily. Clients usually attend once a week and space permitting, sometimes twice a week.
Daily programming includes cognitive, educational, recreational, therapeutic and leisure activities as well as music and art therapy, gardening, baking, and exercise, current events and discussion groups.
The Day Centre goals are:
- To minimize the effects of physical, cognitive, psychological and/or social deficits of clients who have lost some autonomy.
- To improve quality of life by maximizing and/or maintaining the functional skills and independence level of clients who have lost some autonomy.
- To provide social support for the client and/or caregiver(s) and, when required, refer them to other community resources.
- To teach the client and caregiver(s) health strategies.
- To increase the awareness of the client and caregiver(s) on safety issues by teaching or reinforcing appropriate strategies.
- To eliminate social isolation.
- To provide respite for the caregiver(s), (by default, if applicable).
- To provide a learning environment for students.
Referrals must be made by CSSS Cavendish staff and clients must reside on the territory. Hospitals and Rehabilitation Day Hospitals may also refer, however all clients must be referred and followed in the community by a CSSS Cavendish case manager.
